Faced with the restrictions imposed by the health crisis, the Cinémathèque de Grenoble - founder and organizer of the Festival - has decided for its 2020 edition to move towards an online rendezvous, using to create a digital platform accessible to all. Within a few weeks, the teams at the Cinémathèque de Grenoble and VOD Factory set up a SVOD service to give access to the different Festival programs. The opportunity for the Festival to experiment with another form of sharing cinema, and to reach a younger and connected audience.
The organising teams were keen to make the most of the possibilities of digital by also offering Facebook Live, video-conferences or Instagram Stories. An timeslot was chosen for the online publication of each evening's programming - a selection which then remained accessible on the site for 48 hours.
The entire selection of the 2020 Festival was able to be screened online. Proof that, despite the unprecedented context of Covid-19, directors were not afraid of this new digital format! The Festival organisation was able to support and encourage their creativity by awarding 9 prizes, including the Audience Award.
