Our history
Founded in 2017, Benshi has assembled a wonderful group of enthusiasts who specialize in arthouse films for young audiences and are united by a shared desire: to share their love of cinema with you and inspire children to watch great films.
Quality content for all ages
The films featured on Benshi are carefully selected by a committee of professionals specializing in children’s cinema. The platform sets itself apart from other providers by offering highly curated content, with the following for each film: a specific and well-reasoned age recommendation, a detailed review of the film, and compelling reasons to watch it. This unique approach is the project’s strength.
A platform available on all screens
Very early on, Benshi sought to be widely accessible in order to adapt to the viewing habits of families with children. Having an iOS and Android app that allowed users to download movies for offline viewing was therefore a prerequisite. Otto enabled us to grow our community by creating a fast and efficient interface for watching movies as a family.
